SNK Saturday T-Type: Shingo Yabuki [21 Jun 2009|12:58am]

Kyo Kusanagi is his greatest hero! He wants to fight just like his senpai, but somehow his personality still shines through those copied moves. Look out world, here comes Kusanagi's number one disciple! Shingo kick!

Shingo is a blast! Who would have thought that a character who's just trying to ape another character would turn out so great? His design is clearly echoes his idol, but his funny personality really sets him apart. To be honest, I like using Shingo even more than I like using Kyo. Watch out for that beastly haymaker! It'll eat you alive!

As ever, don't forget to check out Py-napple's P-Type entry!

SNK Saturday T-Type: Kim Kap Hwan [07 Jun 2009|02:07pm]

With a swirling torrent of kicks the Tae Kwon Do master with a burning sense of Justice, Kim Kap Hwan destroys evil! Always fighting for righteousness, Kim will take on even the seediest of opponents to prove to his two adored sons that "Evil is unforgivable!"

Kim is the man! One of my all time favorite fighting characters ever! He's easily the coolest TKD character in anything ever. His penchant for absolute justice always gets me pumped up to fight! His kicks are crazy, his purpose is noble, and man, the animation on those baggy pants is just neat!

As always, be sure to check out P-Type!

SNK Saturday T-Type: Whip [23 May 2009|12:36am]

With a crack of her weapon Voodoo, the appropriately named Whip appears on the scene, in search of her brother K'! Strangely enough, no one seems to mind that she's flailing a long whip around in all these fighting tournaments! Rumor has it, she's packing even more dangerous fire power...

Whip was one of the more interesting introductions of the KOF cast in the later installations and I'm pretty fond of her design. I always thought it was strange that she was dressed in an olive drab, military style outfit, yet she wields a very slick looking, sci-fi sort of whip. The jewelry she wears reveal her feminine side, while her uniform says "I'm all business!"

Protip: Her real named is Muchiko!

Don't forget to check out the P-Type entry!

The third member of the Fatal Fury trifecta and best friend to the Bogard brothers, Joe Higashi explodes into the ring with unsurpassed kick boxing prowess!!

Joe is by far and wide my favorite Muay Thai fighting game character and he's always been a blast to play as. He manages to be as funny as most goofy joke characters in other fighting games without having to sacrifice actual worth in combat. He's also got the best taunt ever!

Get out of the way, shrieking wanna-bes and eye-patched poseurs!! Here comes the real king of Muay Thai!!

As usual, don't forget to check out today's P-Type SNK Saturday entry, Kula Diamond!

SNK Saturday T-Type: Blue Mary [11 May 2009|03:21am]

Oops! A little late to the show! Due to unforseen, quite shaking circumstances, this past SNK Saturday T-type was a little late.

This time, Py and I ended up going for the same character...Blue Mary! I became a big fan of Blue Mary when I encountered the Real Bout games. As such, I decided I would put her in the Real Bout get up. I always thought she was a great character to play as and a perfect counterpart for Terry. Finally, a girl who can hold her own in a fight! Can she tame the hungry wolf!?

Don't forget to swing by the lovely wifey's page and check out P-type Blue Mary!

Wrapping up a commission from the uber talented friend, Robin Chyo. He was a pal and bought some art from me a while back. Most of this painting is actually very old now, but it took me quite a while to wrap up the loose ends, as it work. You know how it is!

Be sure to check out his work if you aren't familiar already.

SNK Saturday T-Type: Ryo Sakazaki [02 May 2009|11:27pm]

Kicking off SNK SATURDAY with my wife, Py! We decided to both make a quick illustration of an SNK character every saturday to celebrate the slow approach of King of Fighters XII, a game we can't wait to get our hands on!

This week I chose Ryo Sakazaki! I remember fondly the days at the local skating ring, rocking all the awesome 90s arcade games. Art of Fighting was among them! Since then, Ryo has really distinguished himself from other fighting game karateka who will go nameless and has become one of my favorite KOF characters. ORA ORA!

Be sure to go see Py's first SNK Saturday, Mai Shiranui!

...Man, I sure am hot right now.

Anyway, not much to say really. I wish I could post some art, but so much of it is being done for work and a lot of the cool stuff is for games that have yet to be made public knowledge, so I can't really do anything with the stuff I have.

Work is going great though! The new job remains fun, challenging, and rewarding. I already feel like I've gotten better since I started.  Py seems to be enjoying herself too and she is cranking out lots of great looking art.

I'm looking forward to Valentine's Day and I hope to make it a fun one for my wife. We went looking for a new pet today, which is something she's been dieing to have for quite some time now and if possible I'd like to make it happen for her. We're aiming for a long haired kitten of some kind, like a Persian...we love those cute kittens with the eyes that go two different directions!

I've been doing a little gaming after hours and lately I've been playing Silent Hill 5 and Persona 4. Both are great so far, especially Persona 4, which is even better than Persona 3 which I already consider one of the best RPGs ever. Silent Hill 5 is a mixed bag; the short story is that I had gone in almost reluctantly given popular opinion and my first impressions of the game in videos and screenshots and for the first few steps of the game I was feeling leery for all the wrong reasons. But, after a bit, it seems pretty well done so far and as far as I've come in the game as of now I'm going to have to say it's been getting a bum wrap from SH fans saying it's strayed too far from the trends set by it's
predecessors.

But, the lovely wife is making me a delicious chicken dinner and I think I'd like to spend some time with her, so...g'nite!

Man, it's been a while! [15 Jan 2009|11:13pm]

[ music | One Piece Super Best OST ]

I haven't posted here forever!

It's kind of late though, so I'm still going to be brief.

Most of my artwork is going toward the job lately, and unfortunately I'm unable to show off what I've been doing at this time. It kind of stinks, because I'm pretty happy with the things I've been making! I have been working on a few commissions on the side for a couple of friends, so those should be rolling out not too far in the distant future.

In Nerdy-Tebby news, I got the 25th anniversary Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle recast action figures!

Also, Py and I got a brand new camera and a few other gadgets for Christmas. I've always wanted a cam recorder! Maybe I'll post some videos too...

Here's another shot. Man, the light from my lamp is very yellow!

Bring it on, Shredder!

As you can see, they are exactly the same as the original TMNT toys! I always remember being a little bugged as a kid because I only have two of these I think...and I received other versions of the remaining two turtles. I always wanted to have all four "normal" ones so that they would match. Now as an adult, that childhood dream is a reality!

These toys also came with a DVD, each featuring one of the first four episodes of the first season of the original cartoon. I watched the DVD's as I carefully opened the packages and equipped the green machine with their respective weapons of choice! Then I got a little exercise done...can't be a nerd 24/7!

Maybe having this camera will finally make me want to keep up with this journal more frequently?

Christmas was really nice and everything is going great with the wifey-poo. Speaking of her, I'd better get going. We have to work in the morning and I want to spend some time with her before bed! Later!
